New York, New York!

For part two of celebrating our 30th year of life, Aaron and I decided to take a trip. It was to be our first trip without Lila. My brother and sis-in-law invited us to join them in NYC and we said YES! Once my dad and step-mom found out we would all be there, they decided to meet us, so it turned into a mini-family vacation.

We had so much fun. I love seeing NYC through the eyes of a resident v. a tourist. You get to see all the local parks, bakeries, quiet streets, etc. that all of the tourists never see. The weather stayed between 77 and 83 degrees. Perfect!

We went to a comedy club, the Comedy Cellar, our first night in town. After a two hour show, we had a surprise appearance by Dave Chappelle, who performed for another two hours. We visited our favorite spots along the Hudson River, Battery Park City, and Central Park. We also checked out the MET and the newest completed portion of the Highline.

We ate at some old favs and some new places. I had to go back to Cafe Reggio for their cappuccino and eggs benedict, and to Magnolia Bakery for their key lime cheesecake. We also had an amazing steak dinner at the Palm, chocolate cannoli at Rocco's bakery, and the best mango fruit salad at Pulino's.

Aaron and I spent our last day in NYC without the rest of my family. We were so proud of ourselves that we were able to navigate the subway to check out some places on our own. I wanted to go back to the Village to checkout a store that I had missed the day before. Little did I know that the only block I needed to walk down would be barricaded off for the Pride parade! So we thought, when in Rome! We watched the first portion of the parade and then decided to get out of there before we were trapped in the middle of the 2 million people that apparently wanted to watch as well.

It was fun to just relax as adults and not be Mommy and Daddy. I loved having that special time with Aaron. Thank you Nana for keeping Lila for the 4 days!

You are very welcome. Lila and Nana made some special memories. She's such a good girl. Now that she's talking a blue streak she can communicate what she wants and where she wants to go! Glad you enjoyed your trip.
