Friday was my first day back to work which meant it was Lila's first day of day care. I really love the school she is enrolled in. We went by Thursday so Lila could see her room and meet her teacher Miss Liz. Lila's eyes lit up as soon as we walked in the room so I knew she was going to enjoy it there (I thought that would make Friday morning a bit easier). I managed to drop Lila off in her room and kiss her good bye without shedding a tear. But before I could get out the door, the school director stopped me to console and reassure me that we would make it through the day... and that's when I lost it! It's a good thing she keeps a box of tissue handy at her desk!
At lunch time Lila had a special visitor. Her Nene came by just in time to get to feed her a bottle and rock her. I stopped by on my lunch break and relieved Nene of her post and rocked Lila to sleep. When it was time to pick her up at the end of the day she got a wonderful report. Her teachers said she was the best baby! They had so much fun playing with her and could not believe how much she smiled and cooed at them. One teacher even said Lila made her want to have a baby! I'm a bit ashamed to say that I was shocked! I know how much she smiles and coos for me, but I guess I thought those were special things that she saved only for me! (I know, silly mom!)
Lila, I am so glad that Friday was only tough on me and that you had such a fun first day at school!
