Aaron and I arrived at the hospital on time. It was almost like checking in to a hotel. We were taken to our room and one by one different nurses would come in to do whatever they needed to get me prepped. There was no waiting in triage with contractions, no rush to fill out paperwork, and no stress about whether or not I would get my epidural in time!
I got my epidural, they gave me Pitocin to induce contractions and the waiting began. It was so surreal because I laid there in bed visiting with Aaron and several of our parents for hours while they watched my contractions on the monitor in amazement that I was not in any pain.
When Dr. Duke finally said it was time to push I was so numb I wasn't sure I was actually even pushing. But he said something to me that made me laugh, which apparently was just as good as any push. Dr. D said that I was going to laugh this baby right out, which made me laugh again. One last push and our sweet baby girl joined this big beautiful world!
Emerson Rose was born at 11:49 a.m. weighing 7 lbs 6 oz, 19 1/2 inches long and absolutely perfect!
Just like with Lila, Aaron got to change Emerson's very first diaper!

What a precious time, and yes, Emerson is a little angel. Lila couldn't smile big enough. She sure loves her baby sister.
