First Dentist Appointment

Lila is so grown up about some things.  She never ceases to amaze me.  She started asking me to take her to the dentist in the fall of last year.  Work had been so hectic that I just didn't get around to making her appointment until this spring.

When I called to make the appointment they asked if I had a cleaning coming up soon that Lila could come watch before she actually had to get in the chair herself.  I told them "No, but she's been begging for this so I'm pretty sure she's ready!"

Sure enough, when the hygienist called us back to the room, Lila climbed right up in that chair.  She put on her glasses to dim the bright light and opened her mouth wide.  The hygienist kept explaining to Lila all of the tools she was going to use.  I wanted to say, "You are going to scare this child who wants you to clean her mouth.  Quit stalling and get to it!"  But I just sat there patiently like Lila.

After several visits from different office staff who came in to admire Lila's boots or skirt or jewelry, the dentist finally came in.  He said Lila's 20 teeth were perfectly spaced and she already has 2 loose teeth!

This little girl is setting the bar high for her sibling.  I'm going to want every dentist appointment to go as smoothly as the first one!
