Kathy was the type of person that never met a stranger. She had a tiny frame and a huge spirit. You would never know that Kathy lived with cancer for 24 years by the way she lived her life. She always kept a positive attitude and refused to play the victim. Instead, she decided to live life to the fullest. I will always remember our summers out on Beaver lake watching Kathy ski and tube. Or our vacation to Destin, FL. We rented wave runners and had dolphins swim right up to us! Even her trips to Dallas for chemo would turn into an adventure. I remember one time she scheduled her treatment around a Rangers MLB game just so that we could go to a game while we were in town.
Kathy will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I think of the people that have inspired me Kathy has always been at the top of the list. Her strength, compassion and optimism are all qualities that I strive to posses. Now that I am a mother, I hope to pass on the same legacy to Lila as well.
Kathy fought ovarian cancer for half of her life and is finally at peace. I will miss our long talks and her sweet smiling face. I can only hope that each life she has touched will take a piece of her legacy and continue to keep her spirit alive. I know that is what I plan to do.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." ~ 2 Timothy 4:7

I remember the look on Kathy's face when she arrived to Lila's shower. She was so frail and weakened by her recent chemo treatment. She would not allow herself to miss out on any of life's special moments.
